Background
While sports started to return in late 2020, COVID-19 precautions kept fans from coming with them. The US Open was the first sporting event in New York City since the pandemic. In a partnership with Chase Bank, we aimed to make the most of the situation: amplify their event sponsorship, drive real-time conversation and excitement, and bring the US Open experience into fans’ homes with a buzz-worthy giveaway.

Our solution
We created a Twitter campaign encouraging fans to #UnlockTheOpen by clicking the direct link in their call-to-action tweet for a chance to win branded swag and treats. Chase curated two custom prize packs: a swag kit that included a co-branded Chase x US Open hat and a postcard, and a snack Kit filled with tasty treats, a branded water bottle, and a custom postcard. Chase sourced snacks from Nikki’s Popcorn, The Good Batch, and Greyston bakery — all Chase small business clients. We fulfilled a total of 7,222 prizes, reaching and rewarding fans all across the nation. We delivered Swag Kits by mail and via DoorDash to fans in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Denver, Washington DC, Dallas, Houston, San Diego, Austin, Miami, Seattle, and Phoenix. To bring the campaign nationwide, we also shipped Snack Kits to fans’ doorsteps within 7-10 business days.
